Cultural exchange programs not only propel students to understand the diversity of their host country, but also make them learn how to co-exist with students of that particular country and feel compassion for different communities. By providing opportunities for students to find life learning skills through art and cultural literacy, an Arts in Education program through service learning is one of the most effective ways to implement a successful cultural exchange between schools.
Our mission is to inspire the youth from both schools to tap into their creative talents, empathy and self-expression through the sciences, performing and studio arts. To also serve as a liaison that can help identify relevant topics such as cultural literacy, service learning, community building, education, and cultural exchange in Senegal and around the
- Students of both schools will be able to showcase their culture, tradition, and language through engaging in activities that offers several art disciplines and participating in culminating performances showcasing everyone’s work.
- To also foster cross-cultural understanding and collaboration and to demonstrate shared values and aspirations.
- Students would also exchange traditional gifts and learn life lessons with each other.
- This Program will also seek to connect with international students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to engage with local students through arts and culture.
The program will operate as an in school, after-school and Saturday program. Activities in team building, leadership through an arts and education curriculum will be offered to our participants.
Below is a detailed description of the program and schedule. Students from both schools will perform together in a culminating musical production at Grand Theater.
